So my area is not getting closed and I am honestly surprised. That being said, I am far from disappointed. I like "leading out an area" because I have noticed this is when you get the closest with people because they cling to the missionary who has been there the longest more. So, I am really excited for that aspect of this transfer. I will be receiving Elder Helton. I've talked with him before and he seemed like a good person. So I will be looking forward to this next little bit.
When we get transferred, we go all the way down to the office. Our area is only four hours away so it's not that bad of a drive. I know for the areas way up north transfer day can be an all day affair. We'll be doing that this Thursday. It will be weird to have a different companion because of how long I have been with Elder Wendel. Three transfers is a lot, but I've enjoyed being with him.
The work is going pretty well. We have a couple people we are teaching that are slow preparing for baptism but they make progress and that is exciting to see. Hopefully in the next month or two they will be baptized. Not really many crazy experiences this week, just a lot of people saying goodbye to Elder Wendel.
So the weather was cooling down a little bit, but this week we are having a heat wave so it has been in the 90s and pretty sticky outside. Some of the leaves are starting to change and it looks pretty cool. Maine does get the New England fall like New Hampshire. I think fall is my favorite season out here because there is just a feeling in the air that you don't get in Utah. That being said, New England doesn't have any spring. It just jumps right to summer, but the fall makes up for it.
So for the most part I'm back to being healthy. I caught a cold this past week that it seems like everybody caught the same cold. I think it must be similar to what I had a few weeks ago so I really wasn't that sick, just a little stuffy nose. Everybody else that caught it though apparently was down and out.
Man I'm jealous of all the fresh produce back home. I used to gripe about gardening as a kid, but I realize now that I really like the benefits of having a garden. Also, that aspect of the hippie culture here has gotten to me, and I just like the idea of growing my own food. Don't worry I won't pick up any of the other hippie things.
